BIPPI © logo |
BIPPI is a non-profit initiative that has existed since
August 2004, based on voluntary work, with the aim to provide independent,
complete and neutral information about all the
conflicts in the world.
2500 years ago, Aeschylus affirmed: "In war, truth is the first
casualty."
Still today, we all know very little about most of crises in the
world; in addition, much of the information we receive is
manipulated and deformed under a mountain of
propaganda and lies.
Instead, in a real democracy, a conscious and
well informed public opinion is the best guardian of peace.
Knowledge and consciousness are the base of the democratic
system; participation is its instrument.
When people are given a
democratic opportunity to choose
between war and peace, it is fundamental to spread correct,
complete and understandable information about the conflict in
order to aid in its resolution.
BIPPI works on this matter.
|
MISSION
BIPPI works on
education for a culture of peace with young and
older people.
BIPPI’s goal is to build up a
free access Internet site that will provide a dossier
with details about every conflict in today's world,
including
original documents, history, interviews, links and
any other possible information, with a neutral and
fair approach.
Every information will be written in an
easy way and translated from
English into the most diffused languages.
VISION
Since the teaching of
Mahatma Gandhi, the world have started to
understand that peace is not the
simple absence of war. Peace has to be considered
the presence of conditions of mutual
justice among the peoples, which might
allow every people to develop itself in
conditions of freedom and self-government.
According to this,
peace is much more than the result of
agreements among governments or powerful
men, as many believe. Peace results from the
kind of links a people establishes with
another people, in the full respect of
mutual rights and duties, recognized from
the international community.
Neither a form of government, nor an
ensemble of treaties and international
agreements can guarantee peace.
Peace is guaranteed only from the behaviour
and the choices of the individuals that, all
together, are the choices and the behaviour
of a people.
Peace is what happens when all peoples are
free to develop themselves in the way they
want, without having to fight for their
rights.
Here comes the
necessity of a culture of peace as a
diffused and conscious knowledge of all the
factors that contribute to create conditions
of mutual justice among the peoples.
BIPPI is simply the response to
the fundamental need of correct, neutral and
complete information that is necessary to diffuse knowledge and
consciousness about the existing conflicts in a
world where the communication between people
is becoming
faster and faster, and where every lie can be said
and easily reach everybody.
